Policies
Official PoliciesIt is the policy of the Institute for the Environment, Department 3118, to allocate parking to its employees based on Aggregate State Service with the following exception: The Director and the Business Manager receive priority then all others fall by seniority/aggregate state service. When parking allocations for the upcoming fiscal year are received from the Department of Transportation, the Institute for the Environment's parking coordinator sends out a memo and parking applications to all current employees. The coordinator asks employees to verify the information on the parking application and to list their three preferences from the parking lots allocated to Department 3118. When all applications are returned to the coordinator, parking is assigned using total Aggregate State Service. The process is to first assign employees their first choice. If a particular lot receives more requests than there are spaces the coordinator assigns the spaces to the employees with the most state service. Anyone that has listed a lot as his or her first choice and cannot be accommodated is assigned a permit in the lot of his or her second choice. The process of assigning and moving employees among the lots allocated continues until all employees are assigned a permit or all permits are assigned, whichever comes first. Any employee who does not receive an acceptable permit may request to be placed on the departmental waiting list for a lot of their choice. As spaces become available, they are assigned to employees on the waiting list using the total Aggregate State Service as the basis for assignment. For anyone that doesn't want to park on campus they can apply for a CAP permit. This permit allows them to park in the park and ride lots and ride a bus to campus. There are many bus routes that allow employees to take this option and it is free. |
