The Institute for the Environment and our research centers often release research reports commissioned by various funders and written for a variety of audiences. Below are some of our most recent publications.
2009
- Climate Change Committee Report, 2009 - A report addressing the significance of climate change to North Carolina developed by a committee of faculty and staff at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in response to a specific request from the University of North Carolina General Administration (UNC-GA) and the North Carolina State Senate.
- Dr. Lawrence E. Band's What's the Big Idea Presentation, October 8, 2009: Climate Change in North Carolina
- Coastal Wind: Energy for North Carolina's Future - The University completed a study of the feasibility of coastal wind energy for the NC Legislature. IE capstone students at the Morehead City field site conducted research regarding the environmental impacts of wind turbine placement off the coast, the results of which were included in the report.
2008
- Strategic Plan for the Institute for the Environment
- Perceptions of Sea Level Rise Among Adult Residents of North Carolina's Outer Banks Region - The Fall 2008 class of the Albemarle Ecological Field Site compiled, as their Capstone project, a report on the perceived effects of climate change on the Outer Banks.
- Camden County Green Industrial Park Feasibility Study - In the spring of 2008, the Golden LEAF Foundation sponsored a study by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to examine the feasibility of developing a "green" industrial park in Camden County, North Carolina.
